Peeling Apples Monologues
page 7

Apple Poem from participants’ words

Pippin, Pippin, Coxes Orange Pippin!
They exercise your teeth, they do –
Pink Lady and Beauty of Bath.
Scrumping down windfall lane -
Worcester, Russets, Granny Smith,
so sharp they make your eyes stream,
but you eat them just the same.
Jonathon Gold and Braeburn –
Greengrocers’ delight.
Peeling apples for little girls
with cheeks as red as a Gala.
And here’s to good old Bramleys
for a crunchy apple pie.
But first the blossom in Spring
like a fairy’s wedding dress
A promise of things to come
